    Grant Morrison è un’autore di fumetti, nato il 31 Gennaio 1960 a Glasgow, Scozia.
    I suoi primi lavori nel mondo dei Comic Book furono per la Gideon Stargrave a 17 anni, creando strisce satiriche e comiche per il primo fumetto “alternativo” britannico.
    Successivamente propose una saga, Second Coming, alla DC Comics che vedeva protagonisti la JLA e i New Gods di Jack Kirby, la proposta fu però respinta, così Morrison si avvicinò alla Marvel UK lavorando su Doctor Who Magazine insieme a Bryan Hitch.
    Per il 2000AD insieme a Steve Yeowell crea Zenith, ciò cattura l’attenzione della DC che tenta di avvicinare a se l’autore scozzese. Per la famosa casa americana, Grant sviluppa il One-Shot di Batman: Arkham Asylum: A Serious House on Serious Heart.
    Successivamente comincia un periodo molto produttivo per questo grande autore che riesce a riportare in auge personaggi come Animal Man e lavorando con fumettisti del calibro di Mark Millar e John Smith scrivendo anche opere Vertigo (di cui faceva parte Animal Man) come Flex Mentallo, scrive anche uno spin-off di Doom Patrol e rilancia la JLA, in cui sarebbe successivamente tornato per scrivere JLA: Earth 2.
    Per la Marvel Comics scrive Marvel Boy (6 numeri) e si avvicina agli X-Men dando un’impronta così importante alla serie che la sua run verrà ribattezzata New X-Men (in fumetteria trovate l’omnibus proprio questo mese, andate a prenderlo ORA!).
    Revamp Guy, questo è il nome con cui DiDio lo chiama per la sua grande capacità di riportare in auge dei personaggi morenti, sfruttando e riaccendendo il loro potenziale, tanto che a lui venne affidata Final Crisis.
    Indispensabile citare la sua run in Batman, pubblicata in Italia dalla Planeta DeAgostini, in cui è riuscito a modificare l’idea stessa del Cavaliere Oscuro, rendendolo meno solo e più forte ma allo stesso tempo molto più umano, importante anche il suo All Star Superman, una storia fuori continuity, figlia di un progetto che mira a presentare i personaggi DC più popolari scritti dagli autori più popolari, quindi una narrazione con argomenti presi dalla continuity del personaggio, ancora altre similitudini con Alan Moore (Cos’è successo all’uomo del domani?) che non smette proprio mai di criticare Morrison.
    Uno dei più grandi scrittori di tutti i tempi, di sicuro uno dei migliori, forse il migliore, oggi. Attivo e davvero creativo, un vero genio che ha scritto moltissimo e mi sono limitato a citare le opere che IO ritengo le più importanti, ovviamente nella lista qui sotto potrete trovare tutte (almeno spero) le restanti opere del magico “crapa pelata”.
